Law About Cost-Sharing
California-Code of Civic Procedure, Section 841 states that adjacent properties are mutually responsible for maintaining the boundaries that separate land. Neighboring properties are legally obligated to share costs.
How to Choose a Fence Company
Make sure the fence company has a C13 license for fence building. You can check this information at the CSLB website.
Ask about Workers Compensation and Liability Insurance. If the company does not have insurance, then the homeowner’s house insurance will be responsible for covering any filed claims.
Ask if the company calls Underground Service Alert (USA) before digging postholes near the front of properties.

Steps for using Fremont Fence, Inc.
Call to schedule a time for an estimator to measure the fence/fences on the property. Fremont Fence does not give estimates over the phone. Our estimators are trained and licensed, and complete a written proposal for each jobsite during the scheduled estimate.
If you would like to make changes to the proposal or schedule for some or all of the work to be done, call the office and speak with a representative.
After scheduling, the representative will discuss the contract with you. All contracts need to be signed and returned to the office before the day of work. Multiple contracts or copies can be made if requested. Workers will not go to the job site if signatures are not in the office.
If applicable, Fremont Fence is required to send a representative to the property to mark USA with water-based paint. Underground Service Alert will then need an additional forty-eight hours before fence construction begins to check for pipelines in the area.
Payment in full is due on the day of completion. Fremont Fence accepts payments made by checks, cash, and credit cards.
